I've got this little photo contest I'm hoping to run through work.
The primary audience is going to be European customers.
Since I'm not a lawyer and this is my first time writing 'fine print', I thought it might be wise to see if anyone felt like running a quick look over. Thanks in advance!

As the photos are going to be used for promotional reasons, I think you need to throw in something about a model release form for any recognizable people in the photo, with a easy link to a printable version. |

How about adding size and format requirements for the entries? |

I was wondering about that. I thought it would be enough to say the bit about 'the photographer has the rights to the photograph' and that they transfer limited rights for reproduction for promotional purposes to our company.
If they don't have the right to the likeness, that should be the photographer's responsibility right? We'd be covered as far as liability. But this isn't a photo contest for photographers. It's a photo contest for cyclists.

All the more reason to inform your contestants, on what they need for a photo that could be used for promotional purposes. |

And that is a good point.
Do you think that would be enough as I added to the Fine Print section?
Thanks for your input so far! |

might be off topic, but most contests have the rule: employees and family members of employees of "x" are not eligible. |

Here is the small print of Hallmark̢۪s contest, you might get some idea of the bases you need to cover.

is it limited to a certain geographic area (you say a primary Euro audience) or can anyone internationally enter? |

It looks like you tried to keep out your company name, but I think you left one in the "fine print" section : )
Other than that, all the suggestions I thought of have already been mentioned. |

tee hee. Oops. :)
It doesn't actually matter of course. I kept the name out just for discretion.

The contest will be worldwide, but the primary markets are in Europe and Australia. American presence is somewhat low.

I was just wondering. If it were limited, I would suggest noting that in the rules. If not, perhaps you could say somewhere "This contest is open to blah blah blah" etc."

Thanks. I think I'm going to skip it in the fine print and use the 'preamble' for that. Worth noting though.. |

If anyone is interested, the contest is here.
Sorry, it's restricted to people using that company's product. Thank you for your feedback. Here's hoping it works out OK!

Regarding the deadline for submitting entries, the rules state:
EMAILS MUST BE RECEIVED BEFORE 11:59 PM, Nov 31, 2009.
However November only has 30 days. Just thought you would like to change it. |
