I found this one to be a fascinating read, it's not the normal letter.

*************

Good day,

My name are Madam Mary Vandouf, My late husband
was into private practice all his life before his death.
Before his death, he deposited the sum of 10,000,000.00GBP
(Ten Million Great Britain Pound Sterling) to his local
bank account here in UK and South Africa.

Though what bothers me most is the stroke that I have in
addition to this cancer.

I want you to use this gift which come from my late husband
effort to assist the upkeep of widows, widowers, orphans,
destitute, the down-trodden, physically challenged children,
barren-women and persons who prove to be genuinely
handicapped financially as planned with my late husband before
his sudden death.

Be rest assured that I will sign the necessary Probate Documents
to make you my Next of Kin. I will also ask a friend, hospital,
attendant, Mr. Makolo to discuss with you since I can no
longer talk or lost my vocal system to give you the details
and bank where the money was deposited to avoid delay in
transferring the money to you now that I am still alive. I am
presently in South African for some medical treatment.

Endeavor to send me your names, address, telephone and fax
number to enable contact you with more details/all the relevant
documents by email/ fax.

Yours sincerely,
Madam Mary Vandouf.

Actually some people really do come to South Africa for their medical needs. And not only people from other parts of Africa.

Doesn't make this trustworthy though.

I suppose you would like it if your country was associated only with con jobs when actually those scam letters come from a different country altogether. There really is a lot of good in South Africa too.

my country is associated with MANY con-jobs !!

including health care scams ( see the other thread ).

i wasn't knocking south africa as a country ( see through the sarcasm patriot ).

Of course, all countries have their criminals. But this thread seems to be mocking South Africa, all because some criminal from somewhere else chose to throw our country into their scam mail. I don't want to start an issue here - just wanted to point out that honest people do come here for medical care, while I'm sure this criminal has not done so.

the thread isn't mocking south africa.

more a subtle mocking of nigeria....

lighten up.

i'd mock myself if it seemed fitting.... you're more than welcome to try :0

I certainly didn't INTEND a mocking of South Africa, that would be ridiculous...

I didn't think you were mocking South Africa. It was some of the comments that came afterwards. Not really important though. It just hurts a bit because sometimes we do suffer for the problems further North. It can get a bit complicated buying some things online for instance.

I do agree with the initial intent of the thread though. What's really crazy is that some people still fall for those emails. There was a real horror story about someone that got caught by one of those scams on TV here about a year ago.
