I am still learning all the new features on my new Canon. Second night of shooting resulted in the image that closely fits the image in my head that has been there for over 8 months. Thanks to everyone's helpful suggestions in this thread Small Portable Battery - how? I hit upon something that would allow this idea come to fruition. I am looking to put this in a 2010 Umbrella Calendar so I need help deciding. Ugh, I like both.

A Light Stroll In The Park

A Light Stroll In The Park BW

1. Which one is better?

2. The larger version has very visible noise in the sky. Are there any good noise reducing programs that will eliminate it and for a good price that is not going to break the bank (I had saved up all my b-day and holiday money for 2 years for this new camera)

3.Is it too dark? Do I need to bump up the levels or more contrast?

i prefer the colored version, i like these "low" key colors...

you don't know Noise Ninja or Neat Image? well, you can find trial versions with Google Search easily...

Ya know that is a difficult decision. For this one though I would have to say the color one is best. Thee is alot more detail in it. Both are good and worthy of recognition.

Nope, been doing photography for more years than I will count:-) and I am clueless on what programs are currently out there and what are actually good. This is the first time I have HAD to use an ISO of 400 or more to get the lighting right. Generally I like shooting at 200 or lower and mostly daytime shots. Will look into those suggestions though...

well... this is a good tool: //www.neatimage.com/

Neat Image 32-bit for Windows is available in several editions:
$29.90 Home edition; $49.90 Home+ edition; $59.90 Pro edition; $74.90 Pro+ edition

it is very inexpensive i think...

(and sorry for my bad english!)

The colour version for me. And yes, Neat Image for the noise reduction.

Fixed the link for Giorgio.

I like the B&W version better. The strong shape of the road and the contrast in texture between grass and concrete fits B&W well I think.
I can't make my mind up on the crop though...

(Levels are fine btw.)

1. Color version

2. Topaz DeNoise is another alternative. And the Topaz people will give you a 30-day free trial of any of their products -- and their free trials are of the full version without any restrictions or watermarks.

Contrary to the majority of votes, I like the B&W one better because the lights look much better IMO. Either way you go there good pictures.

I prefer the colour, but the yellow was just clouding this scene. I just played around with this and I hope I am not out of line.
I found that it was too yellow, also the noise in the sky fixed with reduce noise and mask the rest of the pic.

Here is the edit.

In context of you helping out a fellow DPCer improve her photo, I absolve you of taking the image and reworking it :-):-). Leo, you have a very valid point - the yellow hues were overpowering the image most especially the sidewalk. While I liked the moody lighting in my original it was overpowering the image and not allowing it to pop. I loved how the image popped more with your edit, but the cost was losing that moody lighting. I set out to find happy medium...of which can be seen in the re-edit. I still am toying with perhaps bumping up the layer to 60% to get a little more cleaner white on the sidewalk but it loses a tad little more of the mood lighting so I am thinking about it.

A Light Stroll In The Park (reworked)

I tried using a layer over the sky and to blur it a tad to remove the noise but that did not work out. Topaz showed me just a boatload of noise!!! Ugh!

The current vote tally is:

Color 10
B & W 4

Oh and THANK YOU ALL for your help and suggestions!!!!!! I appreciate it.
