This video shows a session I had in the studio on Sunday with a very sweet couple who have been married for over 30 years. Like yesterday's post with Rylee's pictures, this video includes live-action clips showing me doing my job. You will see how I handle posing, by showing the clients what I want them to do first, then tweaking the poses until they "feel" right. It was a very fun session and I hope you guys enjoy watching this lil highlight reel.

That's the only reason I gave you 5 stars on the last video. :P

That last frame at the end is soooo sweet. oh, my , goodness. Love it. And I like how you "man"ed it up for the gentlemen with the guitar as I'm sure the portrait session was not his idea. That was very thoughtful. Nicely done. |

...Great stuff, Cindi! Very useful to see how you interact with the subjects.
One thought that might make the video a little more interesting: film yourself greeting the clients when they first arrive (no background music) and talk a little about what you are going for with them. Just real brief - then fade into the shots, music and rest of the session.
Just an idea. I'm no Werner Herzog. :-)
Thanks again for sharing! |

Thanks, guys!
Ken, I often do the "what do you hope to get from this session" chat well before the clients ever actually get to the studio. We start that conversation at very first contact. Most often, by the time they get here, we're ready to just dash in and start shooting. But I do see your point about needing some sort of introduction. Sorta introducing the clients to the studio before the shooting starts.
But then Shannon would say "omg you don't see the first pic until xxx seconds into the video... too boring" :P

The couple in this video, Bonnie & George, are grandparents to a child - Ella - who I have photographed for over 2 years (since she was born). It was Ella's parents who gave them a gift certificate to come to my studio for a session. This morning I sent a sneak-peek to Ella's mommy. Gotta say, her response just made my day!!! She thinks Bonnie and George are going to love every image, that I captured their personalities so well, and she wants to buy the video for them as a keepsake. I'll have to save her email and read it every single day as motivation! :D
I made her swear secrecy, though. Bonnie and George will not see their video and pictures until their Preview session on Friday.
