That didn't even occur to me until you said it -- I was being much more literal!

Whatever, I still think there's less chance for confusion in this challenge than in the Low Key challenge. I'm wary of the subjects where people argue about definitions (what is and what is not bokeh, for example).

Oh and let's not even discuss how important it is to have a calibrated monitor, especially for something like the Low Key challenge...

But then you may risk trying to shoehorn in what people see as treasure. And how many voters will be looking for awhile?

"X Marks The Spot" followed by "Hidden Treasure", do we have some sort of pirate thing going on here these days? Perhaps the next two open challenges can be "Parrots" and "Hooks"!

and i guess thats up to conjecture as to what a treasure is
its a little confusing i guess but thats what i will be entering

I'm pretty open to what I consider meeting the challenge, and my definition is what will score higher from me, not just a narrow definition. It would take something pretty far out there for me to not think it could be somebody's treasure.

I might just have set myself for a sub 5. oh well, at least I'll be in the top 100

I had a pretty good idea for this challenge and I just didn't have time to shoot it. Maybe I'll shoot it anyways and post it to the outtakes thread. Or maybe I'll sell my brilliant idea to the highest bidder. :)

I might have to give a lot because of my close-minded interpretation ;). But I don't give 1's unless it's either horrible, or DNMC and really bad.

see, you are trying to skew peoples views of the challenge, when in essence it really can mean anything.. Think about it; Is it that tiny ant in the tree? The golden double water drop? The lush landscape no one usually sees? .. you getting my point yet?

if you define treasure as something valuable, precious, something you cherish.. it can be anything

You should be expecting plenty of 1s, 2s, and 3s then. Why don't you try to appeal to the majority's understanding of what the challenge should be about if you're trying to score high?

My 6yr old son finds a pretty feather in the grass, a ladybird, a bug and says "Look Dad, I found a treasure."
It doesn't all have to be the Crown Jewels to be a treasure, be open minded...

Exactly, but that's still one cute/expensive/wow thing in a sea of ugliness/cheap/meh (in this case, one cute thing in a sea of meh). Someone was suggesting shooting a landscape that someone hasn't seen before, which would only be a hidden treasure to the photographer. I think the point is to take a picture of something and portray it as a hidden treasure.

challenge for 100% dnmc entries.

I'm not going to enter this one, because I just can't come up with a good concept, but I was thinking... for those who enter, a strong title to go along with the photograph could save the day. It might help the voters find the hidden treasure, which could otherwise fetch some unwarranted DNMCs.

I've entered this one but after reading all these posts I'm wondering if I should have. This will be my first challenge in 1.5 yrs and by the looks of how many entries it may be my first brown!

I reckon the winning shot will be a child with their finger up their nose...lmao! I don't know how many times I see that at weddings...hahahahaha!

I should have swallowed a penny and taken an X-ray! Then a pic of the X-ray. Would that work for basic editing? lol
Yeah, didn't have time for this one...Good luck all, looking forward to the interpretations.

Ah, I see... but shouldn't they at least be keeping a low profile?

I seriously considered that, but thought I'd be seen as a hypocrite by the kids as I'm constantly telling them NOT to do that, yet here I am asking them to do it for a photo... so I went the shoehorn option instead.

Arrrgggghhhh! This thread got me thinking too much about my entry. I'm now on my 3rd workup and just pulled an image that I really, REALLY, liked. At least I'll have some decent outtakes to share when the challenge is over.

Now, I'm not listening to you guys in here anymore tonight!
