error 99 need help - DPChallenge Forums

I am getting this message a lot lately, last couple days, can anyone tell me what they have done to fix this problem??

Thats only with the old sigma lenses hsteg. The 18-55mm is the kit lens. I think error 99 is just an unknown error without any specific number. Try cleaning the contacts on the camera body and the lens to see if that helps.

If you were getting it with a Sigma lens, rechipping might be needed but with a Canon lens, it looks like there is a communication problem between the lens and camera. Try cleaning the contacts on both the lens mount and the camera mount. that may stop it. If not, you may want to speak with Canon.
