Does anyone else use bb or iphone for DPC? If so do you think it is possible that we will ever be able to upload a photo to our portfolio somewhat like facebook?

Not for photography purpose but to say -hey look I'm at the beach or football game etc.

May help grow the site a little.

Edit: I've been on my bb-dpc on and off reading and noticed that dp says I've been logged in for 3 hours. Do I have to actually log out to stop the clock

Interesting idea - I've noticed that a lot of social networking sites, flickr, blogspot etc. have a mechanism in place which allows you to email your photo to a unique address which then uploads it automatically. This approach would mean you could upload photos from any device capable of sending email attachments.

I connect to DPC with my iPhone 3G all the time. It doesn't hurt anything to not logoff. I never do.

It's nice having the "Update" button available while sitting on the beach or when just kickin' it at the local watering hole.

I don't care to upload anything from my device. It would be nice to be able to vote, though.

It would be cool to have a section called "my mobile images" or something like that. Since I don't always have my camera on me I take shots that I think or interesting on my phone all the time to review. If I think the shot looks good I'll usually go back with the camera to capture later. It would be cool to have some way to easily upload them from the phone straight to DPC to ask opinions on also.

.

when your image is doing well that update button is like crack in your pocket. No matter where your at you just gotta pull it out and take another hit knowing nothing has changed in the last 10 minutes anyway.

Would be interesting for GTGs as well. Being able to upload in real-time so others can join in the fun, leave comments etc.

I detest Facebook, but a cut-down sort of functionality on here would be fun.

If I was a cell phone provider and was aware of the addiction associated with the update button on this site, I'd gladly have my company pay for the upgrade on behalf of DPC as I'd recover my capital cost within the first 5 challenges. ;-)

Try lite.facebook.com - Not as nauseating.

It is already possible to vote via phone. However, I really, really don't recommend it. It's bad enough that we get "too dark" type comments from non-calibrated monitor owners, but imagine what would happen if users tried to judge photos on a tiny phone screen.

It is? My iPhone says: "Voting on mobile devices is currently not allowed"

I tried it a while back and it worked (I re-voted later on that one pic to be fair). Perhaps they changed something on the site.

Last time I tried voting with my smartphone the site refused it. I can browse and comment fairly easy with the Android browser, but it still requires some scrolling.

I wouldn't want anyone voting on my image from a mobile device ... screen is way too small and some of them have very poor resolution ... I want people to buy bigger/better monitors for voting purposes!

Seems reasonable that you would not want votes coming from phones. However on some of my pics it may have raised my score if the cell phone screen was used !

You would vote on images based off the view on a 3.5" screen? Oh my.

Agreed. And make sure they're calibrated too!
