I have one like this. Made by Promaster, It works good but it is somewhat of a pain if you plan to switch back and forth between the hand strap and neck strap. Unless you get some sort of quick release clips for the neck strap.

| I swear by this Camdapter strap -- it comes with a mounting plate for either arca or manfrotto tripod heads. I have em on both my cameras, let a friend pick up my camera, and he went and got one for his d700. |

| I had a chintzy one that I bought at ritz. Loved it. It allowed me to continue to use my regular strap but have the hand strap option, which was great for when I was photographing bands live, because things get a little rowdy at times and that extra control was a life saver. |

| I used to use the Camadapter on my D70, loved it. Gave it to my FIL when i gave him that gear, though. Now i use the Nikon handstrap on my D300, and love it as well. |

So they don't work with a battery grip installed? Is that right? |

I don't know about all of them But the one I have would work with a battery grip. The actual straps extend quite a bit. However if you have really gigantic hands it might pose a problem.

yes battery grips are fine. Both of mine are on battery gripped cameras. If i recall correctly, there is some sizing info on the site. choose the "neoprene" option on whatever adapter plate you select: a nice layer between the plate and camera that protects the camera, but more importantly prevents the plate from swiveling at all.
