Wow, and there was I thinking America was a consumer orientated country.

Even in Australia you can find corner stores open on Mondays :)

Sorry, there may be many excuses for not entering, but "I can't find a banana in 24 hours" has to be one of the more amusing ones ;)

For you maybe in Didyabringabeeralong, mate! :)
In central Europe the challenge runs from sunday 7.00 AM to monday 7.00 AM. The only store that has bananas at this moment is in the centre of Amsterdam (choose between the 24h 7d shop or the "Banana Bar"). No bananas for us Dutch hillbilly country folk.
My neigbour only grows cucumbers and tomatoes, no bananas.

Waaaaaaiiittttttt, it is a members challenge. I'll just photoshop the heck out of a cucumber to make it look like a banana. Or I'll give it a sign with a stick, saying: "I'm a banana with an identity crisis".

I'd give you a "10" for originality :) (If I could send you all some bananas I would....)

Here is a banana pic that I did a while ago. I thought it came out okay considering it was just a normal picture taken on the spur of the moment. I later looked at it and thought I would only leave the yellow in the bananas.

This is one of my first posts on dpchallenge - thanks to everyone who is doing a good job in keeping it up and alive. Got some of my friends here in South Africa joining the site, it makes for a great weekly fun challenge.

Cheers for now...

What's up in your ass, first everyone are asking for a speed challenge and when it comes then everyone are acting like grumpy old men. Two things to do if you don't have any bananas, quit crying and move on to next challenge or be creative.

ps, even in Iceland there are few places open 24/7 how sells bananas

I've said it before and I'll say it again - 24 hours is too short. It was after midnight (May 24) here before I even found out there was a speed challenge. I really would have liked to enter this one, but I simply can't manage it now.

OH, SHUT UP!!!! Stop whining. One thing I hate the most, is whining. First you all want a speed challenge, so they give us one and now you whine about that. Boy!!!

That's the problem - I did want a speed challenge. But 2 hours is way too little time.

Show me that one city/village anywhere in the world where they don't have atleast one non stop opened shop (especially food shop) and I go there and open one. I just don't buy this. I went out and came back with a bag full of bananas in 10 minutes, and I live in the smallest city possible.

Is that a promise? Anywhere in the world, and you will go and open one?

anywhere where is peace and democracy. wouldn't go to iraqi to get decapitated or such :))

Edit: I'm in the process of looking for something to invest some money in anyways.

PS. ofcourse there should be a considerable amount of potential customers too, no 5 people villages forgoten in the mountains somewhere.

It is illegal here to have your store open on a sunday that is not a dedicated 'open sunday'. You can't open non-stop either because that is against the law as well (in most cities, the big ones excepted).

It wasn't 2 hours... it was 24 hours.

Do you have the option turned on to receive email notification of speed challenges? I do, and I received the email 35 minutes after the challenge began.

I thought I had the option turned on, though I didn't get an email. It wouldn't have helped though because I'm only ever on the internet late at night, when telephone costs are cheapest here (with the exception of a few minutes on Monday and Wednesday mornings when I go looking for the new challenges). So I literally only had 2 hours available for this one. That's why I feel speed challenges should be 48 hours - it gives people like me a chance where 24 hours makes it impossible for me to enter.

Some speed challenges are 48 hours, some are 24. The very nature of a speed challenge is that a certain percentage of people will miss them.

Ideally I would have liked to see the 24-hour challenge be something that didn't require a prop... but such is life.

Sorry you didn't get to enter, but if it helps, neither did I.
