Anyone ever hear of WeeklyPhotoComp.com? It's a weekly contest that costs $2 per image to enter, winner takes half of the entry fees. The more that enter, the bigger the pay out. I haven't seen any bad reviews via Google, so I thought I'd toss it up here to see what everyone else thinks.

The terms of service look pretty good. Entrant retains copyright and ownership, and grants highly limited rights to show photos on the web site.

And look at this!

All photographs entered must conform to the following requirements:
* jpg format (file extension .jpg or .jpeg)
* 1mb or less in size
* the larger side of the photograph to be no more than 1,000 pixels

Ya baby! D&L could learn something here!

Weekly is kind of misleading for those of us used to the time constraints of DP Challenge.

You can keep paying your two bucks again and again to keep it in there, though why if it doesn't win you'd do that is beyond me.....LOL!!!

I like the challenge of theme and time constraints rather than just culling my archives for a good one.

That, and in that case, there are a heck of a lot of people out there getting that "Once in a blue moon" shot to compete on the archival level......the odds can't be good.

Seriously. Probably hopeless at this point, though.

Looks ripe for abuse to me. Come on, it is Austalian owned and operated. Judi will win every week.

Also, some major photoshopping is going on there. so you have to compete against that. Multiple-image compositing, I mean...

Ok, so the results were posted last night.... Anyone here other then "me" (am I the only one willing to admit I did this, lol), pay to enter an image??????? I made the top 50 and supposively the winner will be announced somewhere around Tuesday.... We shal seeeeeeeeeee... It still seems fun to me... Even if I didn't make the top 50, but seeing my image on there was a bit of a treat... Especially since after first glance, I didn't see it.. It wasn't until I went back and was going through them image by image that it popped up... So, hopefully another DPC'er got on board..

The real "dangerous" part seems to be that there is no check to see if the photo is really "yours". Someone could rip off just about any great photo from anywhere and stick in it there with two bucks and win hundreds.

Do you guys see any way that this can be prevented?

Nope........ Except, I know that "my" photo is mine and if I win, then awesome... Honestly the same could be said for every photo on here... Just because it was taken within the challenge time frame doesn't mean the person who is entering it is the actual person who took it or further more is the one who has the skills to post process it.. You just have to believe that those are the rules and that people are following them... Maybe they have a way to detect to see if an image was copied from another site therefore making it ineligible.. Who knows... Don't go taking the fun out of it for me.. lol... I wanna win the 600 and change...

And, the kite surfer is my image... Wish me luck !!!

Lol. I hope you do win. It would be cool.

On dpc we need to submit the exif original for proof. I can only assume they will do the same. I didn't read the entire faq yet though!

Good luck.

Yes, but even if I submit that info, it still doesn't mean that I was the one who actually "took" the photo... I mean, really, who would cheat at something so silly, but people do do stupid things every single day.... And, DPC has absolutely NO WAY of verifying who does the post processing on any image.... for instance, my husband could be a photoshop guru and he could be the one post processing every single one of my images, and no one would be the wiser... Of course, I would think that if this were the case, I would have at least won a single ribbon at this point... lol
