The built-in flash on my Nikon D70 stopped working a while back. I'd have to send it in to have it fixed, but, of course, it happened just past warranty. Would I be able to buy an external flash and pop that on my camera? If the built-in flash doesn't work would whatever's wrong also cause the external flash not to work? Thanks so much. |

Oh, and, in addition, my camera does not always turn off when I flip the switch to off. That's a recent thing. |

Yes you can use an external flash on the D70. The D70 has a hot shoe (where the other flash pops up) that allows you to put a variety of flashes on them. The SB400 and SB600 are both decent options, with the SB600 being much more versatile. I had a D70 and I noticed the power off on thing on occasion. It sounds like you have some faulty contacts. |

That's great to know that it shouldn't effect external flashes. I will try out the SB400 and SB600 soon. Big thanks. |
