I've seen a lot of cool stamps, I'm sure we could come up with some good new ones. It would be almost an open challenge, with some grain.

I think caba meant to take a picture of something that could be made into a stamp.

I think faidoi is right. It's what would MAKE a good stamp. I made some "stamps" recently using a self portrait and a border that looked like it was perforated. Came out so nice, I wondered if the Post Office would even notice it was fake? lol

Wouldn't it be fun to comment and vote on the pictures in the thumbnail mode because it's closer to a size of a stamp?

I think it sounds interesting and quite challenging. Good idea. Someone had some neat photos of snails on here a little while back, sorry, I don't remember who. That would make a great stamp! You know, "snail mail" hehehe

I'm taking the suggestion to me photos that could be stamps (along the lines of the magazine cover challenge). I think it's a great idea.

You're over generalizing. What one may consider fascinating might be another's snooze factor (planes and cacti are some of my snooze factors). There are plenty of people fascinated by stamps. By your own logic, there is no reason someone couldn't take a fascinating photo of a stamp. One could argue, "Why travel to a national forest or the desert when there are plenty of fascinating photo opportunities in your own home?"

It's just something to consider before making snap judgements about what is photo-worthy subject matter.

The real challenge would be to make a photograph that looks good when it is postage stamp size!
No 640 X 640 pixel images, a limit of something like 100 X 80 pixels. Hmmmm

I have found when attending and later teaching drawing or design classes that an open ended assignment often produced the dullest work because people flail around for a while trying to generate an idea. I'll bet if you had everyone shoot the same exact subject, the variety of lighting, mood ,perspective and general creativity would blow you away.
