Hoodoo? You do! Great stuff Steve! I can't help but think that would be a fantastic location for night landscapes... is it as remote as I'm thinking?

Interesting place, and such a lovely sky.
Picture 2197 is almost ying/yang.

Very nice - thanks for sharing those! And I'd imagine it took a bit of doing to get there. Worth the trip!

Melethia:
It was an effort getting there. Once there it took the better part of two days hiking the area to locate this unique place. It was worth the search and I will return.

Kirbic:
I agree this is a fantastic spot for night photography. It has sky all the way to the ideal, unblemished horizon. Imagine how surrealistic a sunset or post sunset image would be... or what a long timed exposure of star trails with the Suevi Warriors in the foreground might look like. Of course, you'd enhance the shot by using multiple flashes to light up individual warriors.

I suppose some folks would describe this place as remote. I wouldn't.

I'd describe it as unknown, unmarked and out-of-the-way more so than remote. There are numerous occupied dwellings within just a few miles of these unique wonders. Yet I know of a photographer who has scoured this region for 20 years, photographing it extensively, but has never seen the Suevi Warriors. It is an opportunity no photographer would overlook or fail to publish if they had seen them. Once found, however, this extremely fragile landscape is remarkably easy to access. You can easily drive there.

My concept of "remote" has become altered. In the "Land of Secrets" I was once stuck in soft sand well off navigable roads in a remote place whose most recent known visitor (as recorded at a wilderness access point) was more than two weeks previous to mine. I was 8 miles from the nearest "real" road and much further from the nearest paved one. I seriously doubt there was more than a handful of people camped within 30 miles of me. I never saw anyone. I believe it was more than 50 miles to the nearest structure of any kind.

If unable to free myself I probably would have had to hike a couple days to get out and cell service would be my wet dream. Now THAT is remote!

Btw... being the scaredy cat that I truly am, I turned around at that point. LOL!!!!

Totally awesome! I hope it stays out of the way and known only to the folks who put in a good effort to search for it.

LOL!!!!!! I was driving a 4 wheeler! And, yes, I had a shovel. It is little and it is cute, but it gets the job done!

In the "Land of Secrets" to avoid risking serious peril, this is the recommended equipment list:

1-Enough food and water for 3 days longer than you plan to stay
2-A full tank of gas
3-Maps and a GPS
4-High clearance 4WD
5-Spare tire and tools
6-Rope
7-Signaling device (Cell phones are useless)
8-Shovel
9-Hot/cold weather protection
10-Salt during hot weather

Check weather conditions BEFORE entering. Failure to do so has had fatal consequences in an alarming number of cases. Be sure someone knows exactly where you are going and when you expect to return. Sign all trail head logs. Go knowing that rescue efforts, if needed, will probably take days rather than hours.
