Ok, I was just looking at my portfolio, and this picture has been viewed 12,549 times! The next highest view count I have is for a red ribbon entry at 6,395. The dog photo wasn't even entered in a challenge!

Some people use tineye.com tineye.com
I tried tineye for an image I have on DPC that had an unusual number of views but couldn't find out why. So whatever...
Maybe it's a cool thing that you have over 12k views???
Your pic is a pretty cool shot.

Doesn't make sense, though. I've only been on since January. If you look at the profile, by far the most viewed pictures have been my few ribbons. They are in the thousands of votes higher than the non-challenge pictures. Yet this is 6,000 views higher than any of those. It can't be simply because it's interesting. I only have 6,769 profile views! |

It has been linked somewhere - probably a dog site/board, and maybe for that specific breed. One of my highest viewed shots was linked to several outside sources for its humor value, but doesn't have even half those views. So wherever it is linked must be quite popular! |

The same thing happened with this photo: |

One of mine got linked from Stumble Upon and got 5859 views during voting (thus during a single week) -- as well as an additional 10843 views since then.
Great dog shot. I think the fact that you caught the dog looking at you while in mid-air is what probably led to it being linked from somewhere. |

Does anybody know what "views" means on Panoramio?
This photo of mine has a measly 9,665 views on DPChallenge:
I uploaded it to Panoramio (here) , where it apparently has 192,203 views.

It would be nice if DPC could provide the referring URL of all our image views--just like Flickr does. With Flickr, I always enjoy seeing how folks "stumble upon" my photographs.

You could use a flag counter into Photographer's Comments section. |

What a pain that would be if we had to insert this into every one of our image pages.

Wow 192,203 views. That must explain all those dirty fingerprints on it. :P Sorry. I'm a bigger fan of the original. :)

Your link has been viewed so many times because it was posted on "StumbleUpon"People click a button in the SU toolbar and it takes them to a random page that's been faved. Your page was faved, so when someone clicked that button they had a change of coming to your photo. That's why it's got so many views.

You might try posting a "Google Alert" for your image by name or keyword.
