I really like the idea of the messaging system built into this web site, but I do most of my browsing at my office....We have a BIG nasty firewall "protecting" us from the bad outside world. Problem is: I can't burrow past it. I have received several really nice e-mails via this system (to my web based e-mail), but if the sender doesn't display their return address, I can't go there.

Any suggestions?

(I will change my personal signature to a) include both my popular e-mail addresses and b) request return address.)

It won't work to either initiate an e-mail or reply to an e-mail. When I bring up the Messaging Window, I get a blank page that never populates. On one of the few occations that I signed in from home (dial yukp), it works just fine for both create and reply. I'm at work much more than at home with a much faster connection at work.

I've been frustrated by the private messaging system more than once. My suggestion (as a professional web developer) is that hitting the "reply" button, and replying to it as normal email, should work and be silently sent to the proper recipient by the dpchallenge private messaging system.

I'm always gracious enough to include my private email address.

I just decided to put my email address on the profile page. It''s not like it''s a really big secret these days...

Maybe the admins (sorry guys) could add a "mailto" link to the built-in command set, and/or add a pre-addressed mailto button on the left pane of the post (under name, camera, photo title) which would pop-up a message addressed to the person who posted the comment. That way you could bypass going to/loading someone''s profile page just to send them a note...it should work whether the person''s using their own email or only Private Messaging.

Maybe if you did not spend all day on dpchallenge you could leave work sooner?

i have noticed that when i use netscape, the same thing happens--a blank window opens that i can't do anything with--but when i use IE, it works like a champ. have you tried working around both of these?

Zeiessman: I do "service work" at my job, so I am on call, for 8 hours a day. I can't leave early. I get periods of open time, this site helps pass that time. (see GE repair man....)
Amitchell - I've always preferred Netscape, I haven't tried IE. I figured it was our firewall again. I will give that a shot on Monday. At home now, frustratingly slowwww. Take care.
