I'm new - just joined as a member. You can read a bit about me in my profile. I've uploaded a few portfolio shots, mainly just to have something visible. I don't want to look like a casual drop-in. But I'm hosting a challenge on the dpreview Olympus SLR forum right now, so I'll be kind of tied up with that till next week; hosts are expected to comment on all the competition entries as well as selecting the theme. After that's finished, I should be able to get a better portfolio organized. I'm mainly a nature photographer so you can expect lots of bugs, birds, beasts and blooms.
I maintain numerous albums on Webshots as faranya100, but wanted something more in terms of critiquing and challenges, because I'm very keen on growth and learning. A DPChallenge member posted a note to me on my WS message board, including a link to this site, so I checked it out and here I am! I may be somewhat long in the tooth but it's never too late to teach this ol' dog some new tricks.

Welcome to DPC. I think you'll find this a very friendly and helpful community with a few freaks and butt-heads added in for variety. Just like a family! :D

Damn nice photos, but I have to say your meadowhawk dragonfly looks remarkably like a osprey....:) |

Glad you like 'em - thanks! I am having a real problem with that osprey/meadowhawk shot, obviously. I've tried everything to get the darn osprey out of there so the dragonfly matches the text. When I check, it looks fine to me. Then when I click on the portfolio ... whoops! Back to the bird.
Not being terribly technical about such things, I'm beating my head against my keyboard. It's too bad. I have these funny little letter-shaped dents in my forehead now. : (

Thanks. I can see this is going to be fun. Next step is to start commenting and work up the nerve to try a challenge. It's such a big site, I'll need to play around with the navigation for a bit first.

Aha, freaks and butt-heads I can handle. Well, more than that, I can relate. I've already noticed the friendliness - very reassuring! |
