I got an email that a new employee's security card is ready to pick up. It said, "Pictures on the card should be facing forward not sideways."

I took the photo, and made it look good.

The company I do my regular consulting for, rents office space in a building 11 floors tall, an not very big. Why does every little Joe Schmoe feel the need to emulate the USA's Homeland Security? This is small beans, seriously.

I wrote back and asked if they're installing face-scanning devices, asked if I could never alter my hairstyle, and told them the new employee would pick up her card and they'd be able to recognize her as she'd be the one with her head turned slightly to the side.

As it is, we hold the cards against a magnetic scanner at the front door, and at the elevator. No security guards or anybody to see anyone's face. Silliness.

Come to think of it, maybe they were referring to shoulders, as they were about 80 degrees, and her face was only slightly turned. Anyway...

Silly!
