Almost 6 years ago I photographed my first wedding.

It was so much fun that I knew I wanted to shoot a zillion more.

Unfortuantely, that first couple, Ryan and Tammi, didn't stay married. This week Tammi's wedding dress was donated to my studio - to join my ever-growing collection of dresses to trash. This dress had been treated quite poorly. It wasn't cleaned before storing and someone had spilled a drink on it during the reception, so it looked terrible. I decided to dye it and just see what would happen. Heck, why not, right?

Today, I mixed some liquid dye and boiling water and proceeded to dip-dye this giant zillion-pound dress. Besides dying my hands very very red, I managed to both remove most of the stains from the dress and give it a lovely new life.

Now I just need to find a lovely model/volunteer to trash it! ;)

Wow - it looks really good pink, like it was made that way originally! This is a great idea for recycling dresses - now you just have to share the photos when you trash it!

Too bad she was trying to keep the background in focus, not the dress.

Hey, I've had that tree for more than a decade, it deserves a pic now & then! :)

You did a great job with the dye - That is a nice pink color.

All you need is a model to play Princess Aurora (Disney's Sleeping Beauty)and two others to play Flora and Merryweather as the duel it out with the Pink/Blue (although that would really trash the dress with the dueling colors:-) )

On a similar line of thinking... I have a session in mind that I want to try sometime. I want to shoot a bride and groom in a paintball fight. With spats of paint all over the tux and wedding gown. Hmmmmm I need a tux to trash! :)

That could look spectacular if you were to paintball some of the classic wedding group shots - everyone lined up in age and size order, dressed to the nines and splatted with multicolour paint.

You would have to get them posed - with helmets on - splat them - remove the safety gear, then take your shots.

edit for spelling
