Worldwide Moment

On September 9, 2009 at 9:09AM Tokyo time, photographs will be taken all over the world for peace. This is a fixed time event, so for me, in Phoenix, it will be September 8 at 5:09PM. I think this is a great idea. Wanted to share here, naturally!

I like the idea, although it's 2.09AM for me at that time, so it probably will be something inside. (Always need some recover time after my last minute challenge entries)

Today is the day - at least for us on the American continent - to shoot the photo for Worldwide peace. Please see the link below!

Please click on the link below to get all the information. Here in Phoenix, my photo meetup group is participating en mass.

And here is mine.

They're still putting the photos into the gallery. I looked at the 08/08/08 gallery and it was very cool - albeit much smaller than this year.

Next year will be even bigger, I bet.

Thanks for participating, hajeka!

Any idea what size they want the images. I made one the usual DPC-size, but they mention something about eventually printing a book ... also, what about model releases?

I sent them an email, but haven't heard back ...

This is the image I intended to submit:

At the scheduled time for Worldwide Moment 2009 Isaac was scheduled to be in his martial arts class.

Part of the philosophy underlying most of these self-defense forms involves the avoidance of conflict through physical and mental control, while taking personal responsibility for one's own safety. Furtunately, at the prescribed minute they were working on active forms in front of the dojo's shrine.

Under the poor (photographically-speaking) lighting conditions in the dojo I was expecting a lot of noise and some blur, so I chose to emphasize those factors in this high-contrast, "arty" version.

Title taken from a book which was sitting on a counter at the front of the building.
