This are for me the best 4 performing stock agencies for August 2009:

1. Shutterstock
2. Fotolia
3. Dreamstime
4. 123RF

August was an excellent month with an 8% increase to Juli and a view surprises. It was the Best Month Ever for DT, 123RF, FotoMind, and PantherMedia. The two new agencies Veer Marketplace and The 3D Studio in my collection performed surprisingly very well.

Just wondering if you could give a few more details. How many pictures do you submit monthly ? What kind of return do you see ? I've always wondering about doing this.

Thank you in advance

With most agencies I have about 400-1000 images and I have about 200-500 dl per month. I upload in batches of 5 images (2-3 photos and 2-3 graphics) And I try to upload about 2-3 batches per week.

Return per image is hard to guess but it should be around $5.00 - $20.00 / year depending on the subject matter. It also depends on which sites you are submitting to. Shutterstock, Fotolia and Dreamstime are good starters.

Very nice amounts. Do you target long tail keywords? Does the return tend to die out after some time or does it make money for years?

Earnings duration depends on the site. Shutterstock has an initial surge of sales when you upload photos that last for 1 week - 1 month. Otherwise the sites are pretty steady for pretty long. If you get a good seller it can sell for years.
