Hey there,

I'm looking for a new camera bag to hold all my stuff. I have:

40d,
5d mk2,
70-200 2.8 IS,
17-40L,
24-70 2.8 L,
50mm 1.4,
85 1.8,
430EX,
some batteries, wires and junk.

I also have a Giottos tripod thats big as hell...

I was looking at the Lowepro bags but don't like the Slingshot thing as it doesn't look too good for long hikes etc so I'm checking out the expedition series.

Do any of you guys have these bags? If so, what do you use them with and for? I will be doing some weddings but will also be doing random walkabout hikes and stuff.

Any advice?

I don't recall the model names, but I believe both Tamrac and Lowepro have convertible models that can be accessed as a slingpack, but also have two straps.

I have a slingshot AW100, and I love it, but I agree it would not be great for long hikes. Something that carries evenly might be far more comfortable for extended hiking.

I've got the same giant Giottos tripod as you and I was/still am strongly considering the Lowepro Trekker series for a "carry all my crap" type of bag. There are several versions; Nature AW, Super Trekker AW, Photo Trekker AW, and Pro Trekker AW. You can even attach an ADDITIONAL pack (Trekker Daypack) onto the fronts of these if you really want to go crazy with gear. They have the hypalon gear loops for attaching anything you want or using their purpose built add-ons.
The integrated weather covers are nifty and have served me well in surprise weather with my Slingshot, as well. The only reason I haven't gotten one of these trekker packs is that I don't routinely carry all my stuff around... it's more a bring two lenses sort of thing, otherwise it would've been a done deal.

Yeah I looked at all the lowepro stuff, and granted, I had the lowepro Nova AW all through India, Thailand and new zealand and through every airport and every climate and it performed superbly.

I also have a 16" laptop (HP16XT) that would be nice to bring along to distant shoots or on a plane so now I'm looking at the Computrekkers and also at the Kata 103 and also this and also that...

There's just too many bags :(
