So a telemarketer just called seconds ago, selling windows and doors.
I told her we live in a sod home and we have no windows.
She asked about our garage door, and I said we don't have a garage, we ride horses.
She accepted this and ended the sales call.
Shouldn't she have tried to sell me some stable doors?

She should have tried to sell you Saddle Soap and some Oats. Hopefully her call was Monitored or Recorded for Training purposes and she will be taken aside and whipped for not annoying you enough. |

The biggest problem with salespeople is they hardly qualify the customer enough before pitching the product or service offered.
Maybe you should call back and give them a few questions to use just in case they call someone that has a similar situation to yours. Here's a few sample questions:
- Would you like a window or perhaps a skylight?
- How do you access your home?
- Do you worry about creatures or animals entering your sod home?
- Where do you keep your horses?
- Do you have any friends or family that may need doors or windows?
Feel free to add to the list of questions. |

Actually this is something I have never tried, come up with answers so outlandish they can't respond. I can't wait until the next telemarketer.. |

I once told a woman selling vacation timeshares that I couldn't go near a beach because I was petrified of sharks. I came up with many scary shark scenarios. She tried to calm me down by suggesting the mountains. I responded with a dreadful fear of bears. Also wolves. And maybe a snake or two. And anywhere outside has bugs, which could be poisonous. Then there are muggers in the city ... really the list of things that could hurt me if I left home was endless. She gave up ;-)
Haven't had nearly as many opportunities for that type of entertainment since the advent of the Do Not Call registry. Not complaining! |
