I thought I was doing spectacularly well, last night. Really excited! But it just keeps going down, down, down...

You know I held it together, you know the strong one for the family. Even today making plans at the mortuary, taking care of business. Then I walked into a room full of tiny caskets. I guess I̢۪m not such the man after all..

My dear, you ARE the man! If you could have held it together at that, that's when I'd begin to wonder. It sounds like you have been exactly what your family needs during this incredibly sad time. You made me think of my dad--you sound just like him.

I don't know what to say Alan. I agree with Wendy.

edit to add {{{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}} because you need them!

Alan, I don't think there is a person in the world who could face that room and not break down.
I did. My husband did. There's tissues in there for a reason.
There is nothing easy about losing a child.

Do you know what happened to that tiny angel ? How are mom & dad doing ?

I don't doubt it a bit.

I know you're hurting too, but are you close enough (proximity I mean) to see if you can help arrange some meals to be brought over - are they members of a church or other social organization ? Any friends that you know well enough to communicate with ?

Seriously, the few meals that showed up at our door were such a blessing. We weren't up for visitors, as such, but a quick drop-in with food and a hug was welcome.

I just went back to work today for the first time, it's been a rough day here.

Not such the man? I would doubt you were even human if that didn't get you. :(

I am so, so sorry for your loss. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Never be afraid to show others that you are human. This is one of the hardest things you'll ever do and if you don't have an outlet you'll take forever to recover. Go ahead and cry, hold everyone close and just let it out. Everyone will feel better and closer to each other. There is no shame in shedding tears for someone you loved no matter how brief her time with you was she was a part of your life and so are her parents. Support comes in many ways, being strong is just one of them, crying is another.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

MAX!

Alan, I can't tell you how shocked and saddened I am by your recent loss. I was just catching up on Team Suck news and enjoying your beautiful photo of Sivava when I read your devestating post. I am so very sorry.

Had my cry yesterday. Today good old fashioned backbreaking sweaty work, and just as good for me, oh yea sweaty as in 80 degrees today in St. George.
Thank you everyone I feel a bit better, far from healed, but better..

Glad to see you feeling better, all things considered. Catharsis, aka emotional release (crying, grieving) seems best followed up by good physical labour, helps get things done and tire you out so you can sleep. ((HUGS)) anyway, Susan, Druli and Lily

Welcome back Chris.

I'm at such a loss. I have been staring at animal & people interaction shots for far, far too long now. Two of them I'm too emotionally involved with to be impartial and the other two could have been so much better. I have to enter something, since I'm in the golf and MS tournaments.

Is anyone available to give me an opinion? I'd really like to know which one would do the best (since I'm in the tourneys, although I'd love your feedback on any or all...)

Please?

Okay I'm out of challenges for a while but I'm doing the Lensbaby side challenge so do check those out. And if you want just comment on anything in my portfolio I need the critiques.

I've been shooting a bit with my Lensbaby but haven't downloaded anything yet. Nor have I had the chance to check out the side challenge. I'm trying to put together calendars for family and friend Christmas presents. When I get them done, I'll share the links if anyone is interested.
