Love the pic of your Beavers, Lea. I trust it is something akin to Boy Scouts/Girl Scouts in the USA only for both genders? |

Yes - Scouts Canada has been co-ed for many years though. We still have Girl Guides that is strictly for girls too, but none that is strictly for boys anymore.
Sexist ? Maybe. But as a mom - it works for me (okay, and it was nice as a Scout myself many moons ago too).

Subtext - daughter #2 is very, very happy, and barring a calamitous disaster will be going to university next October to study for a degree in Japanese. Happy daughter = happy mother!

It was a very nice wakeup this morning (rollover is at 6Am here, so most of the time I'm not awake), followed by the stress to submit the original (which one was it?) and describing the process steps (what did I do? Well, actually not much, a tiny bit of cropping and some level adjustment). After a nice day to enjoy this wonderful score I'm back in real life now (looking at my Triptich score). |

It's better than the 4.8 from the week before, but reality hits hard when you've been having outlandish fun! |

I wish him luck.
But I'm not feeling like putting much into that wish - they dug out and filled in the only outdoor pool in the south (poor) end of our city this summer - the one that is only about 1.5 blocks away from our place. They're shutting down the arena in the south (poor) end of the town because they built a new one in the north (rich) end of the city that is a good hour or so away by bus and not walkable at all.
We've still got a few playgrounds - but they were overlooked this summer when the city put over a million dollars into renovating three playgrounds in the north (rich) end of the city - playgrounds that were no where near as old as the three closest to us.
Hmm - I think I'm feeling cynical today.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.
S'all right, Lea. I think cynical is the opposite of naïve, so it's not all bad. The question of what you do about it sort of hangs there. Maybe the trouble with sponsorship is that sponsors want to get their logo out there where the money is...
I could tell Simon to give your kids free lessons if you were in that oart of the world :) |

So, you do get a confirmation that it has been validated! Just can't remember my previous ones (except my DQ). Now it's time for me to get nervous.

naw, don't get nervous. Sometimes it just takes quite awhile. Doesn't sound like you did that much to it to get nervous about. I had one that took about 2.5 weeks. |

Just got mine this morning, too. So I guess I get to keep the ribbon.....8>)
On a different note.....for those of you who might have seen/heard me venting my frustration about not being able to intentionally do portrait shots....I "borrowed" a co-worker's daughter and her friend. I think I might actually be starting to get the hang of it. I didn't have to spend a lot of time or technique on this one, though to be honest, I really think the subject has something to do with that.
I know it's certainly not perfect, but it was intentional, and I'm pretty happy with it.
Oh.....the one above is the friend.....this'un's the actual borrowed daughter.....
Thoughts?

Jeb, to show you what a little warming filter would do to help your images I copied them, then opened in CS3. What is dull and lifeless in sRGB is perfect in Adobe RGB, are you forgetting to re-assign profile |

Nope.
For whatever reason, portraits I upload here always look like sh*t compared to how they look here or when I print them.
I even up the saturation before I upload after I edit for other use.
