So sorry to hear about your crumpled rear end! Doubly sorry to hear your car was in good shape. (When mine got totalled, it was an unsellable eyesore, so the $$ was lovely.) Hope you get some good advice and a decent deal on your claim. |

Btw, I forgot to mention the guy at the body shop said he'd buy it at the retention value of the salvage. I didn't get the message until after business hours so I haven't called him back yet. I plan to call the insurance company tomorrow and see what all is going on. |
hmmmmmmmm.. this makes me wonder.. is HE the one that advises the insurance company that the damage on it indicates it's totaled ??? if so, is HE being honest or trying to get the insurance company to total it out so he can buy the car super cheap, fix it, the sell it for a huge profit.. I'm just wondering why he would tell you this.. |

Is this the insurance company's mechanic or an independant? |
It's a body shop that I took it to on the recommendation of another shop where I have had service done. Speaking of which, I did have someone call me recommending a doctor I go see but it turned out the person that called me wasn't from any of the insurance companies I'm dealing with. I guess they got my number off of the police report.

Now here's advice for the next new car....
Everyone that finances a car needs to buy the GAP insurance....it is usually 'mentioned' by the dealer but not pushed...and it SHOULD BE.....
GAP ins covers the difference between the value of the car and the loan value...
lets say you buy a $30k car....once you drive it off the lot it is worth $25k....but the payoff on the loan (with interest is $35k....if you total the car you will only get the $25k, but still owe $10k!! GAP insurance will pay the $10k....
the GAP insurance was only $90.00 for my Ford Escape that I bought last year....
Sorry about your accident...hope all works out for you. |

All the issues with the car aside, please get YOURSELF checked out. You said you already have pain... that soreness, especially if it is shoulder/back/neck could get worse if not treated. People often scoff at "whiplash" injuries, but they can cause real pain and real problems for years if not treated. The insurance companies should pay - at least for the initial diagnostic work and initial treatment.. but please go and get checked out. |
