I would consider those to be office machines and entertainment devices. |

I bet that what Waddy, MelonMusketeer, considers to be a household appliance may be slightly different to the rest of us lol |

Yet for years there have been articles about them now filling the role of appliances. That would also include computers. They are powered and adapted for a special purpose.
I wouldn't vote them down, but I would probably give a higher score to a more traditional appliance. Would depend on the image. |

Hmmm, all this emphasis on powered appliances. I wonder if there were
household appliances before the invention of electricity...
:-))

I would consider non-powered versions of modern devices, though it might be splitting hairs for some other people.

I think a great place to start when thinking about this challenge is where you would buy an item in a store such as Best Buy or Sears or other stores like that.
Household appliances are typically ranges, dishwashers, washer/dryers, etc.
Small Kitchen Appliances are coffee machines, blenders, etc
Electronics are fax machines, PCs, TVs etc.
If you intention is to meet the challenge description, looking at the items that fit into those categories found in stores is probably the wisest way of going at it. Maybe not as creative as some other choices, but clearly the most straightforward.
I imagine there will be some voters that have very tight definitions on the challenge... I guess we will find out shortly...

I ran into this a few moments ago while looking for some images. I wonder if it actually did anything?
Sounds waves get your wash clean
I think I am going too bookmark that site. Their tagline is "Yesterday's Tomorrow Today". I love that kind of stuff. |

Not necessarily. Sometimes the predicted future Happened, sometimes it did not. I have an issue of popular mechanics with an article looking back on 50 years of predictions for the 21st century. One illustration from the 50's showed a woman shopping on a screen that looked remarkably like a web site. The next drawing that showed a housewife hosing down her living room furniture was not quite as accurate. |

Lowe's lists "Appliances" as both the large and small variety.
Sears "Appliances" include both large and small.
"Household Appliances" are clearly appliances used in the household, be they kitchen or cleaning, large or small.
Pinheads will DNMC for any reason, but the definition is pretty clear. |
