Went to the dr a few days ago for neck pain radiating into jaw and face, got a prescription for Tylenol 3's and booze (tho' he said I didn't hear it from him that alcohol was about the best muscle relaxant around). |

Tylenol (acetaminophen) and alcohol have a reputation for high liver toxicity -- I avoid taking them at the same time whenever possible. Codeine (and other opioids) and alcohol are both central nervous system depressants and can potentiate each others' effects (e.g. stop breathing), so use together with caution.
"... San Francisco, and I arrived with a very bad cold. A friend of mine recommended drinking a quart of whiskey every twenty-four hours, and another friend recommended exactly the same thing. That made a half a gallon. I'd been drunk before but that was a masterpiece."
--Mark Twain (as quoted by Hal Holbrook in "Mark Twain Tonight")
FWIW, AFAIK "whisky" (no "e") is Scotch and "whiskey" is everything else (bourbon, rye, etc.) made from distilled fermented grain (except vodka and gin). |

I spent some time in India last year with my work, almost everyone I was with got sick at some point, except me, and I firmly attribute my good health to the local brandy which I drank with regularity! |

Only had a couple drinks once, and didn't see any difference. Now I'm down to my last two T3's, trying to save them for overnight so I MIGHT get some sleep, and am in agony right now. Had hoped relieving the pain for a few days would calm the muscles, but no dice. This evening...... the booze! |

Also, FWIW, I believe I read one time that the very root of the word whisk(e)y is Irish or Scottish for "water of life"...but correct me if I'm wrong.
But an easy double of fine Kentucky bourbon is good for what ails you, for occasional and reasonable use only. But stay off the road!
