I just called B&H in New York to try and order a set of macro coupling rings and got nothing but rude interactions and was put on hold for over 10 minutes. I spoke with Yves who apparently handles adapters and filters and he along with the 3 people I spoke with before him were rude and acted too busy to help.
Not much I can do except return some stuff I bought from them (like they'll care) and go with someone else like 17th St Photo or Adorama. Just thought I'd share in a user forum.

I called back and called back and . . . you get the idea.
Finally I got someone named John in their adapters or couplers or whatever dept that is and he told me that no one even makes a macro coupler or a male-to-male coupler above a 58mm. I don't know what anyone else's experience is with this kind of thing. I wanted to mount my 50mm f/1.8 (52mm threads) to my 70-200 f/2.8 L lens (77mm threads) and I figured I'd end up with some kind of step down ring. According to this John from B&H that animal doesn't even exist. Supposedly it never did.
If you know of anything that might help (beyond just buying the *$*+& Canon MP-E 65 lens) please feel free to share it as a possible work around. I'd just like to use my camera for some cool macro shots now that I have bugs and such in my back yard.

77mm to 58mm is a pretty big gap but you may be able to get away with a a step down ring then use the standard 58mm coupler. Just a thought, I don't know if it would work.

Yeah, that's exactly what "John" said but oddly enough someone last week (when I placed the order with them) told me "Ohh, that's exactly what you need. That'll do it for you."
Hey, thanks there. Good call on their part. I asked specifically if there was anything to couple those two lenses. ARGGHH.
There, now I feel better. It'd be different if I hadn't specifically told them which two Canon lenses I wanted to try and couple along with the thread diameters (52mm-77mm) and whoever I talked with acted like it was no big thing and they had that kind of request all the time.

I'm not sure you can do a 52 to 77mm coupling. You could use a 52-77mm step up filter ring, then get a 77-77mm coupling ring. However I don't think a 77-77mm coupling ring exists. Good luck, let us know if you find such an animal.

Here's a pretty extensive list of what's available. There may be more, but Tiffen has a great selection. //www.tiffen.com/Tiffen%20adapter%20rings%20100302LIST.PDF |
