I love photographing high school seniors. Each of them is unique, but they share a vibrancy and love for life that makes every session amazing. I spend about 3 hours with each senior and create lovely 20-page photo books (senior albums) for each.
Today is different. This week I dedicated 2 days to photographing my very own senior. Taylor, my youngest daughter is about to start her senior year. After shooting, I spent another day to create her album -- 48 pages! Well, she's my kid! :)
Here //www.youtube.com/watch?v=k11rKr7cryc is a video I created using the double-spread pages from her album layout. She is so pleased and I am so proud of her... I just had to share.
When I joined DPC, Taylor was 12. Wow how time flies. She's such a lovely lady now.

Can't wait to do my daughter's (she'll be going into 10th grade this year) and hope they turn out half as good as yours! I'm not crazy about the video format just from a viewing standpoint, as I'd like to spend more time looking at specific photos and the smaller ones are hard to see - but it is a neat concept. She's a beautiful girl and I can see why you're a proud mama! |

OK, I'll bite, we dont have things like these Senior shoots, what are they? What purpose? When are they usually done? And most importantly - is there any way I can start pushing this idea in the UK to make some £££ ! A lot of schools over here now have an end of year prom with parents spending hundreds on dresses, limos, parties etc.. so obviously once we start dragging ourselves out of recession I am looking to branch out a bit.. so come on, hit me with those ideas...
edit - btw nice shots, but also not sold on the video format.

I found myself smiling all the way through - looks like the pair of you had a great time and produced a great result. (youtube - what a great way to promote your work!) |

Wow - very nicely done Cindi ... beautifully done, and Taylor has grown into a lovely young lady - you must be one proud momma. And she should be proud of the fantastic work you've done with the photos.
Multo bene! |

Thanks, guys! I know the images are a litte hard to see well via the video format, but I thought it much more kind to share her pics this way than to upload 103 images for you guys to wade through. lol
Mark, Senior sessions are BIG business over here. WAY bigger than prom, etc. The summer between junior and senior year or sometime during senior year mom and dad pay to have little darling professionally photographed wearing all of his/her favorite clothes or in their favorite places, etc. I offer senior albums (20-page photobooks) with my sessions to make me different from my local competition. Most studios offer folios or something similar. Have a look here, this is my main competition in the area: //secure.cadystudios.com/Extranet/Web/Default.aspx They have been around for years so I'm only just starting to get a bite into their world. The average kid who sees them spends around $700, but some spend much more. As to how to push this idea in the UK, I say just start offering the service and point kids to websites such as the one I just linked. Once they see it, they want it. :)

Great shots Cindi (and good presentation too).
I am doing my son's senior shots this year, but unfortunately, our high school requires a traditional portrait with a standard blue background on the shot; you either have to go with the studio they contract (you still pay, but it's not expensive), or try to match their background.
My daughter went to them, but didn't like the photo they took, so I did hers a couple of years ago against a plain BG, and we added in the BG in PS. I'm going to do the same with my son (though I have a green screen now making it a little easier.)
So one question out of curiousity: are people just buying these to have a portfolio of their kid, or are they actually able to pick whatever they like and put it in the yearbook?
