I entered the "World Wonders" contest at Outdoor Photographer the other day.
Readers score your images. Some of my best work...not scoring well: 2 to 3 on a 5 point scale.
Admittedly, there are some fantastic photos there. Not expecting to win in that field, but hoping I should do better than average!
Anyway, I'd be grateful for anyone here to go have a look and add your own rating. Since voting count is low, it may be the result of just one lowballer giving a 1 star rating. It would be nice to dilute that, rank higher, and thus get more views and votes.
Did anyone else enter?

I'll have a look this evening, Neil... I'm always up for looking over some good landscape work! Do you know how many votes have been cast? I agree that low vote counts could really throw things off, especially if other competitors are lowballing to enhance their position. We sometimes don't recognize how good we have it here at DPC, with relatively high vote counts and anonymous voting. |

Didn't get chance to vote yet - - but don't worry - - your photos are stupendous!!!! |

Ah well, I tried :-P
Their registration process failed for me, so although I was able to successfully create an account, I can't log in. SOme outstanding stuff in that contest though, and Neil, I though your stuff stood up well, especially "Nature's Pyramids." |

Thanks for trying Fritz.
Yes, their website has frequent problems. I tried to enter one of their contests 6 months ago or so, last minute as usual, and the website kept telling me I had already entered (which I hadn't). Actually, I tried to enter a contest on their sister site, //www.dpmag.com/photo-contests/2009-my-world/, early last night, the contest ended at midnight, and I kept getting PHP errors (server side errors). And now it's closed.
Anyway, still hope some people here try to go by the site and cast a vote!
ETA. And thanks Tom and ThatChickOverThere! (And thanks in advance to others!)

Do they have forums where you can log in and complain about the service and demand that they do something about it, right now because it isn't fair that you weren't able to submit because they couldn't keep their website up?

I voted. They need to fix the random feed so you don't keep seeing the ones you've already voted on.
Wonderful shots Neil. |

Thanks all. I don't know why they allowed a couple days of voting, then later the peoples choice.
If you order by vote, the HIGHEST vote any photo got was 3.5 or so. (And the topmost photo is a photo after my own heart--an eddy or swirlpool as I like to call them).
Seems to still fit my thread title...and I thought scoring was tough here!
And my shots are on the top page, that's good for views, so thanks!

Glad I checked this thread again.
Yes, Ja-9. It worked. I could check on the 5th star and voila, another vote was recorded!

LOL, the site is still telling me my password/username don't match or I don't have an account yet... but the email they sent me after activating my account has the credentials I'm using. My e-mailed request for help over a day ago has gone unanswered. |

Fritz, I've sent in two support requests, and both were answered within 24-36 hours. They eventually responded for the myworld contest, telling me the site was swamped and this led to the PHP error.
Janine, thanks for trying, but yes, you can only vote once (and as Fritz knows, sometimes not even!)

Just a bump to encourage people not only to go vote, but to look at some of the fantastic photos in the gallery!
Here's a link to the main gallery:
//www.outdoorphotographer.com/photo-contests/world-wonders/gallery.html
my photos are fortunately still on the first page. You'll recognize some of them!

A funny thing happened today...I thought I would try one more time to vote...well it let me vote on the Bass Harbor one today...I "thought" I had voted on it (might not actually have done that) but you got one more vote from me now... |

Thanks Janine.
My shots have dropped pretty precipitously. Not sure if it matters at this point, but I liked having them on the first page.
Especially my Bass Harbor light shot. It dropped to the bottom of the second page. And the other persons is like in first or second position. It's a very nice shot, but in my totally unbiased, unprejudiced opinion, I like mine better ;)

Whoa, big night I guess...only two shots left on the first page (ordered by vote). My Bass Harbor Light is now on Page 4.
Curious for opinions here...which do you like better...don't be afraid, either way, I'm curious. I've definitely seen shots of the lighthouse I like better than mine, but that's not one of them (though it's very good indeed). Certainly shows better as a thumbnail than mine!

Make sure they are ordered highest to lowest...
Maybe you have my shot and the other persons mixed up, because theirs is #5 in my list.
My shot is here on page 4 :(
//www.outdoorphotographer.com/photo-contests/world-wonders/gallery/16294-bass-harbor-light.html
My Nature's Pyramids shot, which sat at number 3 for quite a nice while, is on page 2 now:
//www.outdoorphotographer.com/photo-contests/world-wonders/gallery/16314-natures-pyramids.html
Right now the only page 1 shots I have are the bottom two shots, my Sailor's Delight and my Manhattan Lights.
Of course, if these don't make finalists, it probably doesn't matter anyway. I was just curious why their bass harbor light was doing so much better than mine, and of course, I liked being on the first page!
