BJ's "Blue" photo was DQed, and would like some critiques on it. She was having trouble getting it loaded on a site so she could post it here, so I offered to do it for her. Here is the link to her blue submission. Check it out if you can. Thanks.

I think I voted on this before the DQ and gave it a 4. IMO, I wouldn't in a million years look at this and think blue (-1).
Other than that, I think it's a pretty good pet picture. The focus is too soft, and I personally would try a little more saturation maybe. The lighting is good tho, and I do like the way it's composed.

I think I agree with everything indi said.

Also, the topic of the forum thread made me laugh so much!

great composition. could use some more post-processing (sharper, and make the blue in the eye stronger)

lines are interesting.

I´m sure I voted on this before it got DQ and gave it 5 or 6. Of course you can say something about the focus but it´s a little too important for many here at DPC. If I had done this I had probably placed the eye up at top left third or where it is but a little further right. And I think it follows the challenge - it IS blue. And it IS a nice photo.

I'd like to see the eye more to the right and higher; meeting imaginary lines 1/3 from the right side and 1/3 from the bottom (rule of third). Looks like a really cute dog. I would have given it a 5 or a 6, since it really doesn't covey the colour or the feeling blue. I assume it was diqualified because of the small border on the left. We all learn as we go. Good luck on the next challenge BJ.

no, i think it's at a good height.

but you're right, i think it would work better in the upper left.

If that's not your dog you better tell that fellow to stay inside when there is a full moon.

Hi Everyone! Thanks Heather for taking the time to put my picture up. And everyone else for commenting - this was what I was hoping for. the photo was my attempt at a different look at my dog - a husky mix that you will probably see again 'cause she loves to have her picture taken and therefore is my easiest subject! Thanks again guys - I think I'll learn a lot from all of you (and have fun!)
