Has anyone heard of the International Library of Photography situated at 3600 Crondall Lane, Suite 101, Owings Mills, MD21117 whose Web Site URL is www.'picture.com'?
I have received a mailing from them saying that one of my images has been selected for publication in a book of photographic images entitled "Endless Journeys" ISBN No 0-7951-5247-7
I have been offered the chance to purchace a copy of the book at a discount price of $69.95 & can add my profile for an additional $25.
Has anyone else had any dealings with the above.
I would appreciate comments

I wish the search forum criteria was better. There were a couple of different threads about this site. |

I'd be surprised if they contact anyone but US citizens - too tough to collect the money. Sounds like a devious proposition to me. |

It's a pretty obvious 'scam' - but they certainly do contact outside of the US, as I can, from more naive days, testify. Not naive enough to fall for it though, just to submit something :-)

if they have your image - the very least they would / should do is give you a copy.

Thanks Everyone
I definatly won't be sending them any money.
Can I stop them from publishing my picture. They say that the image remains my property, The Book "Endless Journeys" is copyrighted as a compilation & the copyright notice for my image is published in my name.
If they use the image in the book, how do i stand |

This isn't something I would do but it looks more like pay for publication than a 'scam'. If I saw a book like this or America 24/7 in a book store it is one I would at least want to look threw it. I can see where it would be worth it for some people to pay. $69 is alot cheaper than printing your own book. And maybe you want to book anyway.
Noone has asked how long they have been around and how many books have they actually published. |

Everybody is selected, nobody ever wins that contest they hold there. Out of the blue you got a release form for you picture, Right? Proceed with caution.
Definately a 'scam', I had a friend get caught up in this one. The book is never sold to the public, only people who submitted pictures. The quality of the book is something you might find at the race track or a bad baseball program. They are only selling people copies of their own pictures next to other people's pictures who are offered the same booklet.
Guess what there is a International Library of Poetry (can't remember the name but it is the same people), where you can buy a copy of your own poem too.
They are preying on the people who want to see their name in lights.
Plenty of links on the net. When I get to work, I'll find and post the better ones.

'Scam'!!!!
The next step is that they send you a mailing telling you that you will be winning an award for your photo. Then they tell you that they would like you to be present to be presented your award to the tune of several hundred dollars. Do not send these people any money. I am so glad I did not get cought up in this

they say the book is sold in bookstores, but i've never seen it, and i look. i fell for this one at first too. was happy to get my book, to see my photo published in a page full of photos of people's dogs, out of focus pics of their babies, etc etc. there's lots of good photos in there, and TONS of bad ones. photos bad enough that i can't even call them snapshots. now i'm no photographic master by any means, but a photo book of supposed "contest winners" (especially when i thought my pic was pretty good), i'd expect to see nothing but good photos.
