I CURRENTLY HAVE A TAMRON 17-50MM f/2.8 XR DI II DI IF ASP f/EOS, A CANON 85MM f/1.8 EF (USM)AND A CANON 50MM f/1.8 II EF LENS'S. I WANT TO GET A WIDE ANGLE/TELEPHOTO LENS AND I AM LOOKING TO SPEND $1000.00 MAX. I KNOW THERE GREAT ONE'S THAT ARE VERY EXPENSIVE BUT I AM DOING A LOT OF NATURE, OUTDOOR AND MACRO PHOTOGRAPHY LATELY AND I AM VERY LIMITED AS TO WHAT I CAN DO WITH MY CURRENT GEAR.

I HAVE A CANON 30D.

ANY HELPFUL ADVISE AND SUGGESTIONS ARE VERY MUCH APPRECIATED.

I WILL SAY THIS ALSO. I DO LIKE TAMRON AND SIGMA AND WHATEVER IS SUGGESTED WILL HAVE TO HAVE IMAGE STAB.

THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR YOU HELP,
DENISE

It's quite an effort to read long posts that are all in caps. If you edit your original post to make it easier to read people may offer more opinions :)

are you looking for 1 lens that can do it all, or 2 separate lenses?

From reading your post, it almost seems like you are looking for more than one lens. I don't think you will be able to do it all with a single lens. What I read is that you are interested in

1) Macro
2) Wide Angle - landscape
3) Long reach zoom - nature/wildlife

Which of these above are you most interested in tackling first?

So, do you need an ultra-wide-angle or a wide-angle? For ultra-wide, I use the "Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM" and love it. It's one of my favorite lenses. The glass is top quality. They say that if it wasn't made expressly for a crop-factor sensor, it probably would qualify for an Canon "L" designation. It also holds its resale value very well so if you decided to move to a full-frame sensor in the future, you should be able to recoup most (if not all) of you investment.

With this lens, you can control how much distortion you want (or don't want) by changing the elevation of the camera relative to the subject; as well as changing the distance to the subject. That way, it will take traditional ultra-wide-angle compositions or distorted, fun, photographs. Besides landscapes, I use it a lot for interior real estate photographs for real estate brokers.

Here are some photos that I've captured using that lens.
