I've really enjoyed using ProShow to create numerous slideshows and think you will too...

I've been using ProShow to create all of my video presentations for a couple of years. I love it too.
After I shoot a wedding / senior / family, etc I invite them back a week later for their preview session. At that time I show a giant slideshow version of all of their images, set to music using an LCD projector and screen. I create all of the shows with ProShow so that I can burn a copy for them and/or load them onto the web after the Preview Session. Works out great.

| There is a pretty big difference in the Gold and the Producer versions. Do either of you use the Gold edition? |

Yup. I use Gold. Too cheap to buy Producer. You can get most of the same effects, just takes a bit of creativity and patience to get them.

I've been playing with the Gold demo for a while on a project I've been working on... Where do you guys do yer learrrrrrrrrnin'?
All the online tutorials I've found are very basic (which was helpful the first couple of times, but now I need to know some of the more subtle techniques) and don't really go into details on setting up transitions, etc.

Well, I've been using ProShow for a few years now and while most of my learning has come through trial and error; a bit of it has also come through healthy competition. I loaded the software on both my main computer and the one I let my 16 year old daughter use. Everytime I figure out a new trick, she tries to top it. And when she comes up with something new, I try to top it. We've taught each other a lot.
I look back at videos I created 2 years ago and smile, because the ones I do now are so much less effort for some much more wow. :)

Ah, thanks. Yeah, I get pretty frustrated with trial-and-error learning when it comes to anything I do in front of a computer and long for books, tutorials and videos -- why rediscover the wheel? ;) Especially when dealing with, what is to me, essentially a new skill.
Has anyone found any good education/training resources for the ProShow Gold/Producer products?

There aren't too many books, but they do sell a costly DVD course. One of the main differences in the ProShow Producer is to enable Copy Protection, which I haven't tested yet. Recently I bought their two ProShow Style Packs which offer some interesting transitions and maybe I can learn some of the Layering techniques used. One only works with the Producer version. I also got the "Wedding" and "Travels" Media Source DVDs. So have a lot to practice with. I think it's a great tool. Thanks idnic for telling me about it a couple of years ago.
Here are some YouTube links for Demos and Tutorials. 134 from Photodewx and 60 from others.
