| This is probably a silly question but i am looking to buy a Canon EOS 10D. I've been looking at prices on the internet and there is a huge difference in price between the UK and US. Good old Sterling. Anyway, I live in Jersey Channel Islands in the UK and am trying to find a US priced site that will ship here. Anyone have any ideas? |

Be careful! There are a lot of shonky dealers out there (worldwide). I live in Australia and have bought literally thousands of dollars worth of equipment from B&H Photo Video in NY (www.bhphotovideo.com) and haven't had a single problem so I would recommend you check them out. They have a very smooth transaction flow and goods usually arrive here in Oz within 5 - 10 days. I'm pretty sure they ship to just about anywhere.
Others that I know, or have heard that are reputable are Adorama NY (www.adorama.com) and HK Supplies in Hong Kong (www.hksupplies.com).
Be wary of any VAT etc that you may need to pay on import.

I've ordered from B&H before and they were pretty good. They're a bit sketchy on credit cards - if you have a UK Visa or Mastercard they won't accept them. I had to wire the money from a UK bank account, which is actually fairly easy. They do accept American Express, however, which I've used too.
For importing stuff into the UK you will pay VAT @ 17.5% on any lenses, plus 4% duty. HOWEVER, on a digital camera, you are excempt from VAT, so you'll only pay the 4% duty. Please check with your local C&E to make sure. |
