Team Suck proudly presents BAMartin!

vawendy asks:
I see in your profile that you try to "Once a year, go someplace you've never been before..... " Have you gone or are you going someplace new this year? If so, where?

This year might be the exception to this rule, I have had some challenges this year including starting a new and challenging job that means I am on call most of the time. I have a few places including a cruise to Alaska on the back burner. My 15 year old daughter is finally expressing an interest in travel. she might pick the next destination.

The more interesting question might be where have you traveled with other DPCers. I went to New Orleans with Clubjuggle, Spain with BobsterLobster, and Iceland with FranziskaLang.

Quigley asks:
Barbara, we all have at least one regret, what's yours and do you think you could do something about it now?

This is a very hard question for me to answer in such a public forum. Someday I will sit with you, glasses of wine at hand, and I will tell you my life's biggest regret. I am working now on righting it, but it will probably take my entire lifetime.

Every photographer has "that photo" that they're just dying to do, can you tell us if you have taken that shot? If you have, what was your inspiration for it and if not, when do you think you will get around to it?

I am one of those photographers that just takes photos of what the universe puts in front of my face. I almost never set up a shot, and I do not have a studio. I think that most of my photos were âfoundâ moments, and because of that I am eternally grateful to the powers that be for putting me in the right place at the right time. I have respect and awe for the photographers that can visually see something and set out to create it. My mind just does not work that way. Maybe that is why I am a chef instead of a photographer.

Can you describe that last situation that you were in that you said out loud "Sh!t, can you believe it? Look at that! And I forgot my camera."

I just came home from the airport where I took my daughter Marianela and my first grand daughter Christina for their trip back to New York. I can not believe that in the rush to get her there, I lost the one last chance to get one more photo of them. I know I have taken photos of little else these past three weeks, but damn it......

And I better wrap this up now because I could think of question to ask you all day. I've had what 3 failed attempts to get out your way? So I'll ask my last question. As a chef I'm sure you have one dish that you just LOVE to make and one that you HATE, what are they?

I much prefer to bake than to cook. I love making home made breads and pastries. My favorite is a Black Forest Cake. I do not make it very often though, its not a diet dessert. When you do finally make it here to Arizona, it will be on the menu.

I really do not have a least favorite at home, being the chef I can just choose not to make anything I do not enjoy. I have worked at jobs where I did not have that option though. I guess my least favorite would have to be liver and onions. Just the smell sort of turns my stomach on edge.

NikonJeb asks:
If you could change or institute one rule at DPC, what would it be and why?

I may be one of the few DPCers that is happy with the Status Quo. I read the rants on things others would like to see changed and I just can't see it. I have been a part of this community since April 2002, and I like it even more now than I did back then. I am a very simple person, it takes so little to make me happy.

posthumous asks:
Do you harbor any resentment toward posthumous for his lackluster performance as your "mentor"?

I think resentment is way too strong of a word for what I feel about our short lived mentor ship. Disappointment might better describe how I feel. There is so much you could teach me.

meyers asks:
What is your favorite Woody picture on DPC, and why does it draw your attention?

I just did a quick perusal of my favorites and I discovered that I do not have a single Woody photos faved. And on that note I have never taken a Woody photo. Does this mean that I do not like Woody photos? Perhaps it does.

Barbara great answers to great questions. I have family that lives in Phoenix next time I'm that way will make it a point to hook up. I never turn down a chef offering to cook for me :-)
