Hi,
Is there any chance that the DPChallenge site could display the time local to the user?
Maybe just having a modifier in your profile that gets applied when displaying times.
New site looks really nice, by the way.

Yeah, this would be a nice feature, and I've considered asking about it before. However, it would complicate the challenges, since the times and dates on those would also have to be modified by this setting, which could easily confuse people as to when challenges start/end etc. It's probably best to leave it how it is...

Wouldn't the challenge deadline also be seen in local time?

It isn't at the moment, and would involve being written in to become dynamic. It'd also mean having to specify on all dates the time on that day too, which would makes things more cluttered.

I think the FAQ needs to explain about challenge deadlines, with the local time in mind, because if the deadlines are based on the server time i.e. EST (US Eastern Standard Time ?? = Greeenwhich mean time +5) then I could conceivably take a photo dated after the deadline in terms of local time, but before the deadline in terms of server time.
( I am assuming, for example, the Motion challenge deadline stated is 12/08/2002 and this means I can't submit later than 23:59 8th December 2002 EST, which is 04:59 9th December 2002 GMT. If you decide to clarify this point in the FAQ, please don't use US style 12:00am/pm as this is ambiguous)

I'd have thought the deadline currently goes by the EST server time, regardless of what your local time may be.

I don't really understand the need for this. Surely, knowing the deadline time by the server location (i.e., EST) as at present is enough. It is not hard to work out the local time (or you could ask someone) and you only have to do it once!

And remember... the current server time is located at the bottom of each page. I'll adjust the FAQ today.
