How do you normally mount your print to your mat? Regular scotch tape?

I place mine on a drymount using mounting spray.
I used to use mounting paper that when heated glued perfectly to the mount.

I honestly never heard anyone using scotch tape for mounting.

Linnen tape (expensive). If you want to spend less, I suggest you use acid-free Scrapbooking Scotch Tape 3M.

Several mounting techniques

Regular scotch tape can damage the print over time for sure. I use the hinged mount board/mat, and t-mount the print. I was dry mounting when I first started out, but soon learned that most pros were hinge mounting, because over time, a dry mount print can bubble, crack, bend, etc. because there is no way for it to move with temp, humidity, etc. changes. Hinge mounting allows the print to move freely. Also very easy to change matting if desired. For instance, at a show someone says "I like this print, but I don't like the mat it is in." "Well, what mat do you like?" "I like this white one." "Give me 10 minutes and you can have it with white!" :-)

Thanks for the link tater! After what I've looked at I think hinge mounting is the way to go. I'll try a few and see how that works for me.

No problem :-)
If you want a tape that is in between Linnen and scrapbooking type, I use a white acid free artist tape. I get it from my local art supply store, works very well.

The thread How To Mount A Print has good info and a link to an "outside" tutorial by jmsetzler.

I have acutally used scotch tape on pictures I have had up for 7+ years with no ill affects. But these are easily replaceable photos.
