| do we think that a picture of a Dove would meet the challenge or not? |

They're so similar I would not vote down UNLESS it was a photo of a pretty little dove in a cage doing something that was decidedly un-pigeon-like, like looking clean... heh

In general parlance the terms "dove" and "pigeon" are used somewhat interchangeably. In ornithological practice, there is a tendency for "dove" to be used for smaller species and "pigeon" for larger ones, but this is in no way consistently applied, and historically the common names for these birds involve a great deal of variation between the term "dove" and "pigeon."
So they're a slightly different species within even the same genus and apparently what we all know as the 'pigeon' is called the 'feral rock pigeon', learn something new everyday! |

I have a voting question... I did not submit this pigeon photo because I was certain that it would be voted low by some because it's not a clear picture of the pigeon itself. Now I'm wondering if I should have submitted it after all. I'm just curious what you guys think? |
