Using the Adamus sharpening technique, you resize once, sharpen to suit, resize to final size. Ok, I get that and have been using that technique for a while now. My question is on the resizing. My shots in CS4 are 240 dpi by default. If shooting for an advanced rule challenge, I can resize at 240 to 1800 pixels on the longest side, do my sharpening, then to resize to 720 all I have to do is change the dpi to 96 and the image is 720 pixels on the longest side. For basic it is 1600 at 240 then 96 dpi for a 640 pixel on the longest side. The results seem to be very much to my liking. However, I am wondering, would it be better to resize to twice the final image size at final resolution dpi, sharpen, then resize to final size? Am I losing something I cannot see by using the method I described? Does it matter when I change the dpi? |
