This last week was slow to start but ended busier than I could have imagined. Thursday night we got toned out for a structure fire in St. Johnsbury, VT. We were to take our ladder truck and cover their station. Upon arrival, or almost arrival, we found we couldn't GET to the their station. There was 6" hose stretched across the road. We sat there for a while trying to find someone to tell us where to go.

We then moved around and took a different route to their station. We again got within sight of their station and found that we couldn't get there because of MORE 6" hose on the ground. We waited a couple more minutes as we found out what they wanted us to do. They then SHUT DOWN several trucks so that we could drive OVER their hoses to get into position so that we could then put some "wet stuff on the red stuff."

They had at least six ladder trucks and several deck guns going full blast for hours. They had to ultimately stop fire fighting for a while as they had drained their hydrant system. We were toned at about 11:30pm and arrived sometime around 12:15am. Most of the pictures I took didn't come out since I didn't have a tripod and it was dark. Flash doesn't work for a darn on a fire scene (with all the reflective material all over the place). We weren't released to go home until after 8am.

These are the best I have...

Then on Saturday the family and I went to Franconia State Park and did some serious hiking. My camera batteries died due to not charging them after the fire, but I got some good shots still:
