I've searched and searched for the answer but I just can't find what I am looking for. I know the answer but before I make a $2000 mistake I need to see some hard proof I am making the right decision.
As many of you know my D40x will only use Nikon's brand AF-S lenses but I am going to be buying a few sigma lenses. Can you help me verify the codes?
Nikon's AF-S is the same as Sigma's HSM right? Well how do I tell which is a full frame and which isn't? |

Will this lens work on my camera? And on my D700 when I get it?
Sigma 50mm f/2.8 EX DG Macro Lens for Nikon SLR?
Sigma 105mm F2.8 EX Macro Lens for Nikon-AF?
Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 EX DG Macro Aspherical Large Aperture Standard Zoom Lens for Nikon SLR Camera?

Seems like all the HSM's are listed and may be all compatible.

If the lens has a DC attached to it, its a DX sensor size lens, otherwise its full frame. (DG refers to a Sigma coating and can be on either DX size or full frame lenses)

| Okay so does that just mean that I have to buy a lens with HSM for it to work with my current camera? |

Link to Sigma abbreviations:

Also B&H's site is helpful, look up the lens you're interested in and it will have a note if AF is supported for the D40/D60/thus D40x.

Hope this helps.
