I am working on some documentation for work, using Acrobat professional 8, and need to edit some details of images embedded in a PDF.

I have my installation of Corel PaintShop Pro set as the image editor and when I right click and select to edit the image, it opens in PSP as expected. The issue is when I save the edited image, it saves the file in a working folder and is (according to the Acrobat help file) supposed to update back to the document in work. It does not. (Of course, they assume you to be using Photoshop, but the documentation implies this ought to work for other editors as well) I can manually update the embedded image to the edited one, but would like to have it automated if possible.

I suspect I may be dealing with some integration between the Adobe products that does not work with other applications. Anyone else have some expertise with Acrobat and some insight?

I actually installed Illustrator, which I prefer not to use, for this reason. I'm a Corel user, for the draw program, but it wouldn't link to Acrobat. And since I had Illustrator as part of the CS3 package, I ended up loading it for simple editing of illustrations out of Acrobat. It's something I have to do occasionally.
