I am not a Nikon owner and I did take a quick look through the forums, but did not find what I was looking for.
From any Nikon owners I am looking for a lens purchase recommendation for someone who owns a Nikon D60 with only a 18-55mm lens. (I think that is the kit lens).
They are looking for a telephoto lens to augment the lens they already have. They are interested in an economical recommendation that gives them the most bang for the buck. Leaving a gap between 55mm and 70mm would probably be acceptable.
Any suggestions?

55-200 VR would be my choice. Sharp images and a reasonable price. Nikon makes a 70-300 for a decent price as well, but it loses quality from 200-300. I just stick with the 55-200.

50mm prime is always a good idea too--sharp, fast, versatile, and cheap. |

The 50/1.8 is a good lens, sure, but not at all what the poster was asking for. The 55-200 fits perfectly within his requirements. |
