odds that I will fry my D70 due to voltage differences?

I'm using a Nikon AS-15 Hotshoe to PC cord adapter with Alienbee B800 strobes.

The one Alienbees sells appears to be no different, but like everyone was freaking out "OMG OMG YOU NEED A VOLTAGE PROTECTED ONE OR YOUR CAMERA WILL DIE."

I tried a few shots and it worked fine. D70 still functions. I'm worried for the future though.

You need to measure the voltage across the cord coming from the AB flash. If memory serves me correctly the D70 will stand about 250v DC. YMMV(if you blow up your camera without reading the manual I accept absolutely no responsibility) There! I know that my D200 will switch 225vDC with no problems. The manual for the AB strobes might indicate their sync voltage. Read and do research and measure with a volt meter.

Thread that is of use to you.

Generally Canon's are the ones that you really have to watch out for, but be aware that some flashes still have super high trigger voltages. Not sure on AB's, so consult some manuals, but that thread should get you started.
