My english issue is the following:
What is exactly the meaning of the word ¨tribute¨?
My operational issue is the following:
When i have some favourite photo or photographer, how should I proceed? Should I say it on some of my pictures details or should I add the picture or the photographer as my favourite using the ¨add as favourite¨ tool?

A tribute means you are honoring someone or something.
Adding a photo to your favorites is a good way of easily finding a photo that you like later on, as well as rewarding someone for that great shot. People also love comments, or course.
I add people as favorite photographers either because I admire their work and want to learn from it, or because it is someone on this site I have befriended and it makes an easy way of getting to their profile page.

If you've taken a specific shot trying to emulate the style or idea of someone you admire, then I'd put a note in the shot's details linking to the shot that inspired you or mentioning the photographer's name. Otherwise, favouriting is always appreciated :) |

English is not my first language too , so I had hard time understanding word 'tribute'. I learned meaning of it by observing others, as how they tribute their work.
My understanding is that when your photo does not score as you like it to be, and you have actually copied someone else idea - you should tribute it main photographer. Think of it as shifting blame, or saying something like that the original idea was shity i could not have done better etc etc.
So this is how you tribute a photo.
When it does well or better than you expected, you just boast how creative you are and link the photo of original photographer with a note that there are few more copis of your original work. Should be tributed to you.
:-D
