Hey, I saw your image being used....

Nope, apparently this community and others feel it's OK to have one's photos show up in any form anywhere, but it's wrong to try and tell the owner of the image about it.

So for all you out there, sorry, but if I see an image I recognize as yours I will now follow the lead of the community and pat the thief on the back and tell what a good thing he's done.

So please, if you see an image you recognize, don't tell the owner about it. That would be wrong.

If I run across a member's photos elsewhere, I inform them. If an individual is ok when his photo shows up elsewhere, then that is his option to treat it that way. In the case of the member in question, it has been established that he is ok with it. As already said, there are many sites that post interesting photos and images. The site owners do not always know the original source. If you put it out on the internet, there is always a chance someone will take a fancy to it and borrow it. It's not always ok, but it happens.

This time the person was ok with it. You are taking the wrong message away from that other thread.

I've privately contacted a lot of photographers, both DPCers and others, when I've seen their shots claimed by others as their own or used in a way that I think they might not approve. What happens then is up to them :)
