So I finally decided to see what topaz is all about, and I downloaded the trial version of adjust. I have the file in my program files> filters but when I open photoshop it's not an option. What am I doing wrong here?

That's what I figured--sorry, just an elements person. Good luck!

You may need to copy tladust3.8bf from the directory c:\program files\topaz labs\plug-ins folder to your Photoshop plug-ins folder...

or you had Photoshop open when you ran the install, in that case close and restart PS.

In my
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS2\Plug-Ins
..I have a shortcut icon "topazadjust3"

Try going to C:\Program Files\Topaz Labs\Topaz Adjust 3\Plugins and right click on "tladjust3" and select create a shortcut.
Then cut and paste the shortcut into the C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS2\Plug-Ins folder.

I just tried it, after moving my original shortcut, and it worked for me.
Hope this helps.

I think these two links might say the same thing as already has been said:

topaz link 1

topaz link 2

But maybe you could search there for an answer? Good luck!

If all else fails, just email

eric.yang@topazlabs.com

He has been very helpful when problems crop up.

I'm stupid, nevermind. I have photoshop CS4 64 bit and I was trying to install the regular version. Duh.

Since this problem has been remedied does anyone know how to keep Topaz from crashing Photoshop. 4G Ram and a huge page file but it still crashes on large files.

What color background does topaz have when you open it?

It has a charcoal background.

Sorry, I went out, LOL! I know there was a problem with a third party background they were using. Check your version against the latest they have posted and see if you're up to date. That could solve your problem.
