All of downtown Pittsburgh is under construction, so this shouldn't be too hard. Here is a somewhat abstract look at subway contruction near Gateway Center this past winter:

Tons of construction here but it's really hard to get a good looking picture of construction. Everything is ugly and dirty. |

Oh, and the descriptions of this challenge and the previous one are different. The previous challenge said:
"shoot an artistic rendition of something construction oriented".
This challenge says:
"Take a picture of something in the process of being built."
Two totally different things, but will people actually read and/or take into account the description or just the challenge title?

I suspect that voters will only consider buildings, bridges and roads and so on to meet the challenge when of course car construction etc would easily meet this challenge |

My understanding of the English language is that buildings/bridges/roads are constructed whereas cars etc are manufactured. |

"b-b-but i'm shaping this young mind and constructing a well rounded person!"

Parts are manufactured.
Formula 1 has a constructors championship alongside the drivers championship and this is awarded to the team that constructed the winning car.
Construction is not just for the building industry, for example Constructed Grammer, Constructed Language etc |

Tee hee. . .I can tell you haven't experienced the wrath yet of some of our more ana. . .ummmm. . . .I mean, literal voters who take quite seriously their job as "DNMC (Does not meet challenge) Police". But unless you love 2's and 3' in your voting mix (lots of them), you might not wanna try the kid thing. :)

And kids generally seem to go over like a lead balloon too :) That is unless they have flies on their nose or are clearly from a third world country. . . .or unless Jennifer Short is the photographer :)

Do you think a picture like this will get nailed by DNMC in this challenge because off the description "something in the process of being built?" I personally would not vote it down because it is related to construction but some people take the description of a challenge to heart! |

I would vote construction equipment as within the spirit of the challenge, but I do agree that many people would interpret the description very closely. Example: My zoo entry fit the challenge by promoting the zoo in a unique way, but it did not fit the description of "go to the zoo and photograph an animal". Although nobody left me a DNMC comment, I am certain it got a lot of low votes for that. |

Personally I liked your zoo entry Steve it was OOTB and made me smile.
As for construction, I'm playing safe and entering Motion Panning lol |

The "process of being built" part stumped me a little which is ironic since I suggested this challenge and the description. I hate myself somedays. |

I learned early on that kid photos just don't work--unless they are 10x as good as a normal photo. |

Ok, I'm in this one for my weekly beating up!(This "shoot to please myself" concept isn't working the way I was told it does!) |

I'm in! And it's one of those shots that people *should* think is cool--(but won't). I predict 5.3 if people vote quickly. 5.7 if they take a little more time. |

After only a handful of low scoring shots when you joined, you seem to have gotten a knack for producing photos that have broad appeal. My own scores swing wildly. I predict a high 5 or low 6 for you, and a high 4 or low 5 for myself. |

Yes, but I'm also learning how to suck since being a member of team suck. I got a 5.1 in unusual objects, I'm at 5.08 in rocks, and 5.4 in duotone. So who knows...? |

Lets all look on the bright side, with less than 80 entries, we are all going to finish in the top 80!!! |
