My neighbor brought her two children over yesterday to play with my daughter in her pool. Snapped a few shots for them. The little boy is such a ham...
Comments? Suggestions? Do I use too much blur in the background?

Very nice captures, the background looks fine but I have been noticing a trend in a lot of head shots (not just you) lately and that is cutting off just the top of the head in the shots. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. To me, personally, it works in the bottom shot of the little girl and the second one of the baby but in the rest I would have liked to seen the rest of the head. Just my personaly preference.

I think that type of cropping works much better if you cut off way more, down to the mid-forehead, so it looks like a composition and not an accident.
I think the idea is to focus in on the eyes, and put them nearer the upper one-third line instead of the center, so it should work better when the eyes are expressing some emotion and it's not just a posed portrait shot. |

They are cute, but I think they would work better as photographs if they were in portrait orientation and you had not cropped off the tops of the heads.
